Naples to Pompeii transfer by train
Option 1 – Budget Friendly (€9.60 Round Trip)

If you’re traveling on a budget and don’t mind walking a bit (depending on where you are in Naples) or hopping on the local bus, this is the option for you!
The Circumvesuviana regional train connects Naples to Pompeii for only €9.60 round trip—half the price of tourist buses.
Important Notes:
- About a 15-minute walk from the port to Napoli Garibaldi station (via Piazza Municipio), or take the metro (simple and quick).
- Trains are generally reliable but can sometimes be crowded, with no guaranteed seating (we’ve taken it—still fine!).
- Once you arrive at Pompei Scavi station, there’s still several hundred meters to walk to the entrance of the archaeological site.
✅ If you’re comfortable using local transport and enjoy walking, this is the most economical choice.
❌ Not ideal for children, elderly travelers, or during extreme heat.
