Hereβs a preview from our guide.
Rome has a very convenient public transportation network. Termini Station, the cityβs main hub, connects metro lines A and B, making it easy to reach the top tourist sites.
For a full day, get the Roma 24-hour ticket for just β¬7, which offers unlimited rides on all public transit. If you plan to visit only the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hillβall close to each otherβa simple β¬1.50 ticket valid for 100 minutes may be enough.
We donβt recommend the tram, as it has limited stops near tourist sites. With only one line active downtown, the metro and buses are faster and more convenient, especially when your time during a cruise stop is limited.
Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore
Just a 10-minute walk from Rome Termini Station, the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore is one of Romeβs four major papal basilicas and a key pilgrimage site for visitors and worshippers alike.
With its impressive architecture, ornate faΓ§ade, and well-preserved 5th-century mosaics, the basilica offers a fascinating glimpse into art and spirituality across the ages. Inside, richly decorated with marble and gold, youβll find precious relics and artworksβmaking it a must-see for history buffs and lovers of sacred art.
How to walk there from Rome Termini Station:

These ancient monuments are true treasures of history, transporting you back to the age of gladiators, epic spectacles, and daily Roman life. On foot (about 20 minutes): Exit the station on the Piazza dei Cinquecento side.
