This city is a true gem full of activities and magnificent places, but let me tell you that the favorite cruise destination in Naples is without a doubt Pompeii!

You just need to walk along the port for a few minutes to arrive at the ferry terminal, where you will find all the necessary connections.

To get to Pompeii, you have several options

  • Take the train, it’s economical with a one-way ticket costing only 1.40 euros and a return ticket costing 2.80 euros (and the journey takes only 30 minutes).
  • Opt for the tourist buses which are available right in front of the ferry terminal.
  • → I book my hop-on hop-off bus to visit Naples without getting tired.
  • You can also book a taxi for greater comfort and speed.
  • If you prefer an all-in-one experience, you can choose a boat excursion (rates vary between 80 and 120 euros depending on the company).

Getting around Naples during a cruise stopover

Here are some options for getting around town easily and quickly:

  • Walk:

The historic center of Naples is relatively compact and can be explored on foot.

This is the most economical option and allows you to fully enjoy the atmosphere of the city.

However, if you have difficulty walking or want to visit remote sites, other options are available.

The public transport network in Naples is made up of buses, metros and trams.

It is quite effective and affordable.

Taxis are a convenient and comfortable option, but much more expensive than public transportation.

They are readily available at cruise ports and major tourist spots. Beware of scams!!!

Tips for getting around Naples:

  • Download a transit app to help you plan your trips.
  • Allow time for your travels, as traffic can be heavy.
  • Validate your public transport ticket as soon as you board a bus, metro or tram.

Safety in Naples during the cruise stopover

Although boat officials recommend watching your belongings and remaining vigilant in Naples, it’s important to put their message into perspective. Although it is true that vigilance is always required, particularly in large tourist cities, we must not allow ourselves to be overcome by fear because it has no place.

In fact, 99% of cruise passengers who visit Naples experience no problems. From our personal experience, after around fifteen visits, we have never had to report theft or assault.

This tends to demonstrate that Naples is not a more dangerous city than any other.

You just need to respect a few common sense rules, like everywhere else:

  • Do not leave your personal belongings unattended.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Be correct and everything will go great!

By following these simple tips, you can fully enjoy your stay in Naples without worrying about your safety.
